This is a 1957 Chevrolet 3100. It came from Waco, Texas and was purchased new in Corsicana, Texas. The family said the truck was last driven in 1968 when that owner passed away.
My Dad purchased the truck in late 80's from the original owner and he was still driving. When Dad got the truck, he took it to a body shop in West Texas and had some work done. He had it primed and it was put in a barn at my Dad's ranch covered with a tarp. He wanted to do but never got the chance to. It sat there for 30 years until his passing.
My son and I drove from Michigan and brought it home with us to Texas. The intention was to finish it as it once was. I really wanted to use as much as I could. With a lot of research on this site, we completed the restoration this year. It is a stock truck so it is a town cruiser.
Original color was Indian Turquoise and Bombay White. All Drivetrain was rebuilt using same parts. A 327 v8 installed since the motor was just to far gone to continue/ From that long sitting. it was more cost effective to install a motor that I already had reconditioned.
We had the correct bellhousing already so was able to retain 3-speed column shift.
Now the truck drives really well with little to no noises. It holds the road well . It's not going to win any races or stop on a dime. Dad would have liked it this way.
Took two years to get it on the road with all work was done myself so it was not a fortune poured into this truck.
Funny thing my son and I talked about was this thing was full of mice and a Bull snake. Must have fallen out on the way to Michigan.
Had a good ride back home and some time together and made a few memories.
