I believe they were introduced after the Korean conflict, ended in 1953. I drove them in 1959 and 1960 and they held up well to abuse. I thought they were just a hydro with a low range and a high range transfer case, in other words a fourspeed with straight drive for the high range and a reduction gear for the low range. There was no split shifting. Don't know about the bolt pattern.
