https://maymadnesssanrafael.com/It’s just called May Madness, put on by the downtown merchants for over 30 years. The event starts with a cruise Friday night from a high school a mile away and runs right thru town, Then Saturday they close the main downtown business street (4th St) for at least 6 blocks so hundreds of cars and a sea of people can take over for the day. Live music at a few locations, beer, bbq, and etc kiosks, all the stores and restaurants are open, life is good. At 5pm the show winds down with a car parade thru town as we file out of their parking spots, with an announcer describing every car as it passes.
San Rafael is 15 minutes north of the Golden Gate Bridge on 101, the seat Marin County, has about 70,000 people.
