1. Don't know if you are talking about the temp sensor/sender on motor for gauge (which is mechanical) or the fan thermostat switch?
2. "I was told I need to install a diode" by whom?
3. Wire it per the instructions from fan company. I don't see any diagrams showing a diode. If diode fails, you won't know it.
4. If you need a fan on a 235 with a new radiator, you got problems.
5. You don't mention a relay?.....or fuses. These are your safety items.
6. Let the fan turn itself on....
