You could use a switch for your '57 that has a "start" position and just not wire anything to start, while still using your stomp starter. All the "usual suspects" carry that switch. And, you could put the proper wires on the IGN1 (run) and ACC pins on the switch so the radio (if you have one) can be used without the coil on.
