"Sleeper" -- On many old medium duty trucks you will find heavy timbers U-clamped to the frame rails, they would run parallel with the rail on top. Then the bed, box, platform would be built on those timbers. I don't know if that is the correct conventional terminology for what I was calling "sleepers."
