I painted the entire chassis and undercarriage of my '56 Coupe de Ville with Rust-O-Leum semi-gloss black (rattle cans) 20 years ago with no primer - just a good cleaning with scrapers and pressure washer.

It's been driven over 100,000 miles in that time and the underside still looks like new.
