Using the socket for a power port is another story. Me too. I have a 5 amp fuse on my lighter circuit and pulled the heating coil from the lighter to prevent the fuse from blowing if someone pushes in the lighter. 5 amps is plenty to run my phone charger or the 12 volt LED trouble light I keep under the seat.
