I think you have a legitimate complaint. What does it say on the receipt? Does it say "Tint"? Or does it say "Single Stage Enamel" or whatever?

If it says "tint" on the receipt or the can, then you definitely have recourse. Whether the store will help you without suing them in small claims court is another story, though.
