I completely missed the letter "I" on the date code...good catch!
Seems weird that that block was cast in September and laid around until December to be built AND that it was made as a "regular 235" that went into a passenger car (code "A").
I wonder if they made a 235 with the "Corvette Cam" as a "POLICE SPECIAL"...after saying that I think they would have been using the V8 for the Police in 1957...grabbing straws here!
