the history of the truck as it has been told to me:

purchased new by a lumber yard in york, nebraska. 6 cylinder, 4 speed tranny, single speed axle and did not have a hoist under the bed. made at least one, possibly two trips to california.

the truck was then purchased from the lumber yard by alfred maronde, a neighbor who lived 3/4 of a mile from my parents farm. alfred added the hoist and he used and maintained the truck (meticulously) until he passed away from cancer in 1978. my dad purchased the truck off of the farm sale in 79, and it had been used on his farm up until about 4 or 5 years ago when the brakes started to give out.

my brother, who has taken over the farming operation since my dad's death, and had his own truck, parked the 65 in the shed.

the battery has been pilfered for use on an irrigation engine, the blower motor on the heater has been replaced, but other than that it is as original as the day it was new. the mirrors were installed by my brother and i about a year after dad bought the truck. the passenger side mirror was damaged backing into the shed and the attachement bolt pulled through the door skin. there are two rust spots on the side of the truck, i'm assuming, in the ususal spots for a truck of this vintage.

it shows a little over 44k miles on the odometer, but my brother speculates that there may be something wrong with the mechanism. worst case it is in the 50-60 range as far as mileage.

i hauled many truck loads of corn to the elevator with this truck until i moved away in 83. i always liked the way it drove and handled even with a full load, although a two speed axle would have been nice once out on the highway.

if anyone wants to see more pictures of the truck, just send me an e-mail and i will forward them on to you.
