Hey Dragsix, I had previously posted about finding main bearings. The thread is here:

Pretty sure I have the right bearings after that. My engine does not require the locator dowel and when I search Summit Racing for 1956 bearings it gives me the same part number I bought.

However, if they were not supposed to use shims, I still have to use shims on the thrust bearing or it locks the crank. The other three bearings fit within spec with no shims.
