Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 261 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 261 | The late 1931 throught 1946 4 speed transmission are basically the same for all Chevrolet trucks. There should be a casting date on the RH side of the housing and one on top of the top cover to the rear of the shift lever. During the 1935 year there were two 4 speeds due to a strike at the normal Chevy trans. plant and they made a switch to the WT 4 speed (a Ford trans) for part of the year. The 31-46 trans case p/n is 590524. The PTO housing has the standard SAE 6 bolt cover pattern and a straight cut gear inside.
