Depends on the year. None of my trucks built before '67 use the horseshoe clip. I use a hooked pick to pull the horseshoe clips. On the old set screw type, sometimes old timers would put two screws in, one on top the other, to keep them from working out. I've run into that, and some that were just plain tough to get off.
