Ok. I've determined that this latest starter effort is 12 volt -- armature measurement is confirmed on this "new" armature (see pic). Thanks for posting that info.
Btw, while waiting for the paint to dry.. I snap pics of the engine block and with the starter removed (see pics).
Can someone please tell me where I can find more about this engine block vis a vis the raised numbers, and the stamped number near the distributor? I'd like to confirm my past information. The cyl head, I'm not concerned with at this time.
Also, I test drove the clutch drive by fitting it to a nose cone and inserted its pinion into the flywheel. It seem to dry-mesh ok. But that same clutch drive also looks a little beaten at the ends of its pinion gear (see pic). Do you think this will greatly impair engagement?
