What does "match up" mean to you? The stock front axle is already the right width for the fenders, and if the lug pattern mismatch doesn't matter to you then there really isn't any reason to change it.

Like Jerry said, the overall design of the front axle hasn't changed in close to 100 years. I would put disk brakes on the front for wet weather and hard use performance but that isn't even strictly necessary.
