I decided to take Jerry's advice and make my own short shaft water pump for my 1962 235 engine in a 1953 pickup. I couldn't find a pulley that suited me, so I pulled one off of an old 216 water pump. That's what was on my old pump. The shaft on my new pump and the old 216 pump both appeared to be the same diameter, 5/8 if I remember correctly. My problem is: the old pulley is a close slip fit on the shaft of the new water pump. So, I need to tighten it up somehow. I'm hoping somebody can recommend a fairly simple method of doing this, hopefully without using a lot of heat on the shaft of the new pump. Any recommendations?
