I noticed something today while prepping my 70 C10 tailgate for paint and lettering. The font of the C is different on the aftermarket compared to stock.
I have shared two factory gates and the new aftermarket. I was going to use a lettering kit to help mask the letters for paint, but the C is now a problem. Do I use the sticker as a mask and have the contour not actually match the steel stamping, OR use the stamping as the guide and have a letter C that looks like a mix of an L and C?


Don’t get me wrong, the tailgate is very well built, solid, excellent measurements, but bleep like this bugs me.

I guess it’s an easy, sure fire way to ID a reproduction.
