It will need to handle the amp load of ...... cigarette heat filament. I wanted to be able to use the cigarette lighter socket in my truck for modern 12v devices, but I wanted to limit the socket to 5 amps. I fused it for 5 amps, but worried about someone pushing in the cigarette lighter and blowing the fuse. My solution was grabbing the end of the cigarette heat filament with a pair of needle nose pliers and stripping the filament from the lighter.
