I am in the same situation looking at rims, bought some Diamondback Auburn tires 650-16, found 2 of my rims are best not reused.
Am looking at US Wheel in addition to WheelWorks, neither makes the smoothie with vents like 1946 originals in 16” size with 6 lug, the do make them smoothie with vents in 15”, is that the deuce? Again 6 lug issue. There is also a 4.5” wide smoothie rim available at $20. extra per. Both companies rims won’t use our stock hubcaps but offer a 41-46 cap that looks correct but mounts to nubs not clips, they rum $104. Ea (ouch!)

Our old rims are not “tubeless ready” and as I am going down the “rim needs replacement” path that matters…a lot. Many of us (including me) are/were successfully running tubeless tires without tubes on our non tubeless rims, or running tubes in tubeless tires, but I want to be as compliant with standards as I can if the option is there as each situ has its potential drawbacks safety wise. (This is where we some will jump in with what they have been doing successfully for years, but I’m not buying into that logic if I can possibly avoid it, which I can).

I am also looking into the possibility of using old centers in new ‘ hoops’ but don’t know if there is still a shop around for that option… that has its own potential issues as well.
I am interested in any other options available too.

Chuck

I’ll have 2 or 3 orig rims available when I’m done…..and 4 perfect hubcaps
