I have a 6 volt starter on my 1948 Chevy 3/4 ton, and I have what appears to are a bad starter, having replaced it not less than one year ago. I was talking with a guy who appeared knowledgable about the problem, and he told me a 6 volt starter does not have enough torque to work on a 235 engine Manufactured between 1955 and. 1957. if that is the case, is my only option to convert to a 12 volt system? thanks in advance for any advice.
