So I had a rattle can of primer that clogged and was still about 1/2 full. I have some 3M PPS mini cups so thought I'd use the paint in the rattle can. I punched a small hole in it with a shop towel over the punch and proceeded to make a mess as the paint started boiling out of the hole. Once that subsided, I got the paint into the mini cup, put the cap and a plug on it and shook it a bit to mix the paint. It still apparently had some propellant mixed into the paint that pressureized the cup a bit and when I removed the plug, paint went everywhere, including on my recently finish painted fender which is going to need some touch up anyway. Not shown in the picture, but I was using eye protection (only a couple drops on those).
So the moral of the story is: Don't try this.
