I have had my 52 Chevrolet 2 ton (affectionately known as Schuyler) out for a few rides and what a blast.
However there is something going on that worries me, and puzzles me. Somewhere in the area of the transmission there is a loud clattering or rubbing sound. This noise goes and comes with no degree of predictability, and it doesn't seem to have any connection with various running speeds.
We have taken the plates off and examined the crankshaft for excessive endplay - there is less than an 1/8 inch, so this is pretty much ruled out as a cause. We've also examined the clutch, and flywheel areas, and all looks good there as well.
I don't want to run it until we get to the bottom of the problem, but darn... I want to get going again, and even do some actual hauling....
Any help or suggestins would be greatly appreciated.
