Some of the early Frantz conversions used the Fram or AC canister, with modified internal parts. Later, Frantz started selling their own polished stainless steel canister.
I like to use a spin-on Diesel fuel filter in a bypass configuration- - - -it strains out MUCH smaller particles than a regular original equipment type filter. Jerry
