The correct valve lash setting for a 54 235 with solids is 10 intake and 20 exhaust---hot. This info is in the 54 chev truck owners manual. I tried the 6/13 route and after finding the above info is what I set mine as. Sounds like a well oiled sewing machine. Hope this helps.
