Hi Sam. I just picked up a 53 2 ton and although I really haven't run it on the highway, it does run down the road at 50 or so with no real strain. From the way it sounds at that speed, it should "Cruise" at 55 or 60 with no problem. Granted, it's not like a car, but I expected it to be a bit noisy at speed. I would agree that it sounds like you are still in low range, but no expert here....That's just how mine sounds when in low at those speeds...
