I need to do some serious brain picking today. Working on my '50 3100, replacing the brake shoes on the front. It still has the original Huck brakes. In the process of putting the retainer pins in the bottom of the shoes, one of the smaller pins (I think it is 3/16") which is held in tension with a coil spring escaped from me. I was compressing it with channellock pliers and they slipped. I have been able to find the spring, but the pin must have launched into low-earth orbit. I have turned the shop upside down and the blasted pin is not to be found. I have the idea of using a 3/16" Grade 8 bolt and a nylon-insert nut to replace the pin if I can't find it. Since the shoe does not move at that attachment point, I don't see that there would be a problem, BUT before I do something hazardous, I thought I would run this idea up the flagpole and get some input from someone who may have run into this before. Any and all input appreciated
