I would weight the value of a 261 block, crank, & caps without damage, cracks, large overbore, seizure, stripped threads, etc. as $500. delivered (adds 10.8% to engine size), by comparison with stroking with an offset crank journal and 292 rods (adds 4.8% to engine size) at far greater cost.
That $500. figure is a small percentage of the total cost of a high performance build, and an excellent value for the money.
