X2 to what Kevin posted above.
It is illegal
to remove/replace a vehicle serial numbered VIN or data plate in most if not all states to the best of my knowledge, with only a few special circumstances which are covered by each states applicable laws.
Please check with your state (Florida) DMV before taking any action on this topic. You will hopefully be able to avoid any "Legal" issues before they happen.
