I know this is hard to believe, and very lucky, but back in 2015 when I got my ‘57 3200, I did not know the backing sheet metal had pre-drilled and tapped holes for a passenger mirror. Therefore, I very carefully made a paper template on the drivers side and transferred it to the passenger side. Just by coincidence, and a surprise to me, I hit one of the holes that I didn’t know were there. You can see my penciled mirror bracket outline in the attached photo. If memory serves me correctly, I did drill the other 2 from the inside.
