I purchased 16"x6" rims (3.5" back space) from Wheelsmith and they fit fine on the stock brake drums with stock steering and suspension.

I mounted 225/70 R16 wheels but had planned to mount the 215/85 R16 tires. The only reason I didn't was due to the much higher cost per tire.

I have 215/85 R16 tires on my Packard that has 4.5" rims. They fit and handle great.
