What model carburetor is your original? If it's a Carter, you will be better off obtaining a correct, quality rebuild kit from The Carburetor Shop.

I am currently battling problems with a Chinese knockoff carburetor on a 1966 Mustang. Utter crap. Float filled with fuel in just a year is one example of the poor quality. Like just about everything else that comes out of China, it is no good.
