AM stations are going digital. Sort of a complex topic, but it does offer hope for AM to re-vitalize itself. The FCC ruling of May 4 and the various responses to it have been pretty interesting. From what I've heard it sounds like AM is relegated to spoken word now (music has gone other directions except for some foreign-only music stations).
