A "slamming" website did a hatchet job on this cab removal (attached pictures) but there is enough remaining to give you a clue.

The regulator wiring can be removed but the regulator itself can remain to cover the holes in the firewall. Also there is a battery connection that may be useful. Some alternators have a "sense" connection that can be used to compensate for voltage drop.
