An old school method of centering the steering wheel involved putting a slight bend into the drag link. It really doesn't affect how the vehicle steers if there's a bend in the drag link between the Pitman arm and the driver's side steering knuckle. If you straighten it, you might end up wit the steering wheel spokes off-level. The drag link is forged, not cast, so bending it cold in a press won't hurt anything if you decide you want it to be straight.
