I am soon to be the proud owner of a 100% original 1948 1.5 ton flatbed/stake body truck. I bought it from the original owners family. I am told the engine had been rebuilt at 30,000 miles and only had 1,000 miles on it before it was taken out of service. the current family member says it does run but has brake issues.I want to drive and show it after a total restoration.I understand the engine is a "babbit" bearing type engine.Will it run/survive todays fuel and traffic demands? Would an early 70's straight six be better? Would it fit? show me the way please. Thanks | | |
