Most war production did go to the Gov't, but vehicles were available to industry and civilians if you could show a great enough need. Examples I have heard include doctors and farmers. I looked at a 1945 dodge 1.5 ton one time that was acquired for a farm(thats the story the old guy gave). What I remember most was the trim that should have been chrome or stainless was painted tin(chrome & stainless were essential war material and not to be wasted). What material is your truck's trim? I do realize that it could of been replaced later with postwar bright work.
