Finally got my engine back together. I cleaned out the block the best I could, had the head resurfaced and cleaned. The other thing I did was advance the timing. Maybe 4-8 degrees. That seemed to do the trick. The engine runs good and stays around 165 degrees and does not overheat. It seems to run better when the choke is out. When the choke is in it lags a little bit and seems like it wants to die if I don't back off the accelerator. I am wondering if maybe I have advanced the timing too much.
