I just spoke to Tom Langdon, for more than a a half an hour and talked about allot more than the distributor, including upgrading my brakes and drive train. Real nice guy really interested in our trucks.
He advised me not to use a relay. He said, it’s not needed and is just one more component that can go wrong. He said the coil only uses about 4 amps when running and the original switch is rugged enough to handle the initial load.
I also found out about the round (ford) coil that I have, and he also advised me not to use. He suggested using square GM coil he sells on his site. He said he had too many issues with the round coil that he stopped selling it. He also said that that was why Ford discontinued using it.
He assembled an installation kit for me, complete with the new square coil, hold down clamp, connectors, plugs, everything needed for my installation plus instructions for 31 dollars plus shipping! Couldn’t go wrong!
