Unless you've got a Hydramatic transmission, or a passenger car starter for a vehicle with a key start, that part doesn't fit. It's for a starter with a magnetic solenoid, not one with a foot pedal. The two slots fit over the clevis that is pulled in by the solenoid plunger.
