Yes, the trucks came with a heat shield screwed to the bottom of the wood where the exhaust pipe goes over the axle. It probably fell out years ago, allowing the radiation from the exhaust pipe to char the wood. And they are available from most of the vendors. Do NOT run one without the heat shield.
