If you have access to a machine shop, there's a way to install a Torrington needle bearing at the top of the distributor housing that will eliminate ALL the shaft wobble and make using the grease cup, spring, and thrust disc a non-issue. Instead of the grease cup, I install a grease fitting with a 1/8" pipe thread into the housing, and give the bearing a tiny shot of high temp grease occasionally.
