Recently joined the forum to get some help on my latest project.
I have a 1951 Chevy 5 window 3100 that I'm doing a kind of unique combination restoration. The truck has a gorgeous patina look to it on the outside that I will be leaving as is. But I have stripped everything off the truck to fully restore the engine bay, interior and chassis.
I have completed all fabrication, bodywork, and painting on the truck and are now working on loose parts. Hoping to start reassembly in two to three weeks.
This forum has been very helpful and the folks are very knowledgeable.
This is by far the most involved project I have done but I built up to this level by first fixing a hydraulocked engine on a 2006 chevy corvette I bought for 11K. Then I restored a 1976 corvette coupe that I picked up in Virginia for 5K.
I got the truck in NY state basically in kit form for 7K but many parts and a rebuilt 235 engine and a manual sm420 transmission from a 1956 chevy.
I love these old pickups and this will be my regular driver when I'm done.
Hopefully now that we are pulling out of covid, we can have some events in the NE area, where we can meet and admire each others classic rides.
