I spent many years doing pre-purchase inspections of antique, classic, and special interest cars and trucks. Several of those cars went to purchasers in France, the Netherlands, and Australia. The vey best way to assure you're not getting taken advantage of is to commission an on-site check by a certified inspector. They have several dozen independent contractor inspectors who cover just about the entire USA. The scam artists run like roaches when a light is turned on when an inspector gets into the mix.
