Since they have a month designation in the serial number, would it start over each month??? Did they build 1000+ 2-tons per month back then?
Serial numbers are by the model year, not month.
The reason for the low serial number is because there is a first and second design in 1946. "PW" is second design, so the numbers started all over again at 1001.
