In 47 all had hand brake on the floor. In 48 the 3 speed went to a column shift with a foot pedal brake. The 4 speed stayed as a floor shift with a hand brake. Not sure if Chevy followed that same timeline. Is it possible your two trucks had different transmissions/ shifters?
