Jerry is right.
You might consider a Pertronix conversion. They come in 6V and 12V. I used one on my 348 (in a 1957 Chevy truck). I did need a different coil for my install (high performance), I don't know if that is required for every install. It has been great for me over the last 5 years. However, a Pertronix conversion seems to have some detractors. so I would research that a bit. I have had two different installs and no problems. At the same time,I have had little issues with points either(no failures, just periodic adjustments and trying to find the correct ones locally).
