I went to Clem when I was looking for a shop, he came highly recommended, but the guy I talked to was an axhole. His way or the highway. The friend who recommended him said he forgot to warn me about that since it's the son running the place now.
Shop I had problems with was Hebb in Haysville. If anyone asks me for advice on a machine shop, the first thing I say is don't go there.
Shop that did my work this time is AAA Auto Machine. He was recommended by my parts store, and was who I wanted to use originally. He repaired the leak and ground the head. Did such a good job on getting the head surface parallel that my exhaust valve to piston clearance was the same on every cylinder. And he only charged $75 for the work. Took it in on Wed and got it back Thur afternoon.
Reason I didn't use AAA the first time was the shop was moving, and I would have had to wait a month to get the work done. Turned out I would have gotten the work back from him a month ahead of Hebb. Sometimes we have to learn the hard way. :o
A machinist friend just had a block reworked by Smith on south Broadway, said they did good work and treated him right
