@bluesman did a fantastic job of capturing all the information necessary to build an index of the 1947-54 Truck Factory Assembly Manual, but given my intense case of OCD (Old Car Disease) I wanted it in a spreadsheet format so that I could look for an area of the car alphabetically. I was able to cut and paste and edit as necessary the existing information in the Word document formatted file and input it into a spreadsheet. This spreadsheet has three tabs, the first tab is sorted alphabetically by Subject, the second tab sorts the index information by Section and Sheet in the Assembly Manual, and finally the third tab sorts the index information by Area of the truck.
If anyone thinks this approach is valuable, maybe this post should get promoted into the existing sticky.
