The majority of the time fuses get blown because the terminals on whatever you are fusing get shorted, or a failure in the pump. For those cases you can put the fuse anywhere you like, even on the ground side.
I had a truck catch fire under the dash because a wire rubbed through the insulation between the battery and the fuse and shortes out under the dash. Fortunately no one was hurt (though Franklin still won't ride in any of my vehicles 15 years later). | | |
